Driving Narrative Change
One of INCANDI’s core beliefs is in recognizing the latent potential of diverse and talented individuals. This includes marginalized communities such as the urban poor, refugees, migrants, stateless individuals, and indigenous people.
We view these groups not as "vulnerable populations" in need of aid, but as vital contributors and strategic assets to our society. They possess unique expertise in adaptive leadership, crisis resilience, and cross-cultural innovation—qualities that are essential for building the sustainable organizations of tomorrow.
Our co-creative approach leverages arts, design thinking, and media to empower these talents. We move beyond simple storytelling; we provide a platform for these incredible "storytellers" to showcase their skills to global leaders and decision-makers. By bridging these perspectives, we are not just making voices heard—we are re-designing the very "OS" of our cities and organizations to be more inclusive and resilient.
INCANDI was born from an unexpected encounter in Malaysia between our Founder, Kasumi from Japan and "Hassan" (a pseudonym) from Yemen.
Both individuals were alumni from "The Ship for World Youth Leadership Program", sponsored by the Japanese Government in the early 2000s. During this event, Hassan has proudly represented his country on the global stage.
However, during their latter unexpected encounter a decade later; Kasumi was shocked to discover that the war in Yemen has forced Hassan into refugee status - not because of any failure on his part, but solely due to unfortunate circumstances beyond his control.
Despite facing such grievous adversity; Hassan's leadership, generosity, and talent remained as strong as ever. Just as it has been a decade ago, before the war; perhaps even stronger.
Moved by Hassan’s resilience, Kasumi founded INCANDI believing that individuals like him deserve more than just a chance to survive—they deserve the opportunity to lead.
Today, INCANDI exists to prototype the social systems where leaders from all backgrounds can leverage their inner light to shape our collective future. We don't just share stories; we build the inclusive infrastructure needed to turn those stories into sustainable social impact.
